Your pet deserves the best care and treatment possible. From urgent pet care to routine wellness check ups, or advanced veterinary care - our highly skilled team of veterinarians is here to help.
It is so important to give puppies and kittens the right start in life. Preventative care for the young ones includes deworming, vaccines, monthly flea and heartworm medications, and counsel on working through those sometimes frustrating puppy and kitten animal behaviors.
Since pets cannot tell us how they are feeling, bloodwork is a very important part of veterinary medicine in both preventative care as well as the care of illnesses. Having an in-house laboratory allows us to obtain results quickly for those dogs or cats that are ill and need quick medical attention.
As pets age it is so important that they have a full physical exam at least once a year or more. This may include routine bloodwork and vaccines. Continued monthly heartworm and flea prevention are also very important for adult animal health.
Anesthesia can be scary for a client. We take the utmost care of every patient. We choose and calculate drug dosages for each individual dog or cat, and one of our care team members is monitoring your pet for the entire procedure.
Animal dental care is integral to a long and healthy life. Many dogs and cats will accumulate tartar, fracture teeth or have other oral/dental concerns that are treatable before they become larger health issues.
Vaccines are a vital part of preventative veterinary care. Every pet will be assessed for their exposure and lifestyle in order to determine which vaccines we recommended. The only vaccine required by Franklin and Delaware Counties for all pets is rabies (unless they have a valid medical exemption).
Technology has come a long way, and digital radiology is one of many important tools we possess at MAH. We can obtain radiographs for any size dog or cat and easily read them in the veterinary clinic or send them to a specialist for a second opinion.
It is always hard to say goodbye, but we truly believe that euthansia is a gift to our patients and clients. We are privileged enough to see some of our patients through their entire life, and we are always thankful when we can provide them with a peaceful passing.
Sudden illnesses or injuries can happen at any time. Our staff is trained to triage these cases over the phone and determine if the illness or injuries can be treated at MAH or would be better served at a referral clinic such as Medvet or OSU Veterinary Hospital.
Animal behavior concerns can range from separation anxiety to aggression. We like to schedule pet behavior consultations at our veterinary clinic as separate appointments in order to truly focus on the causes behind the behaviors as well as discussing potential solutions or training strategies.
There may be a time when a pet will need to stay during the day or overnight for hospitalization. Since we are not staffed for overnight care, we always recommend referral in order for the pets to be monitored around the clock.
It is always difficult to choose which food or diet to feed your pet. We strive to make nutrition a part of preventative care in order to prevent malnutrition or obesity which can lead to joint disease, diabetes in cats, and other illnesses.
Besides yearly physical exam, routine blood work is another important part of preventative care. Yearly blood work which includes a chemistry profile as well as a CBC, a heartworm test (4dx), and fecal tests are all recommended at MAH.
We do have an in-house ultrasound for basic exams including cystocentesis (sterile urine collection) and pregnancy checks. If a more thorough ultrasound exam is needed, we will offer for a specialist to come to MAH or we will refer the patient to Medvet.
We will always involve you in the treatment of your pets by making sure we communicate all the options as well as costs of recommended treatments. The health of your pet is our number one priority.
We understand that our clients are busy with work and family which is why we offer drop-off appointments in order to accommodate them. Your dog or cat will receive the same level of care and attention as if you were present. In fact, they may get a few extra snuggles and treats from our staff!
Integrative medicine incorporates well-studied and effective complementary therapies including acupuncture. Acupuncture has a myriad of applications including pain management for arthritic or cancer patients, and it can help reduce seasonal allergies.
