Dr. Ashley Elia received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Wesleyan University, in Middletown, CT in 2004 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. After graduating from veterinary school, she moved back East where she worked full time in general practice in a veterinary clinic in Cambridge, MA for two years before moving back to her home state of New Jersey to be closer to family and continue her veterinary career.
Dr. Elia has always had a passion for integrative medicine which led her to pursue her Certificate of Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute in 2012. From 2011 -2018 she worked in a busy, 3.5 doctor, small animal general practice, first as an associate and then promoted to Chief of Staff, combining her knowledge of acupuncture and traditional Chinese veterinary medicine with her Western veterinary education.
In 2018, after the birth of their second child, she and her husband decided it was time to head back to buckeye country, and they moved back to the Columbus area.
Since moving back to Ohio, Dr. Elia started her own veterinary relief and mobile acupuncture business and has enjoyed providing these services to veterinary clinics and hospitals and patients in the greater Columbus area.
Dr. Elia is constantly learning and expanding her education and in the fall of 2020 completed an intensive four-month Integrative Veterinary Pain Management course. She is also currently working on her Palliative and End-of-Life care Certification which will be complete in July 2022.
In her spare time, Dr. Elia enjoys staying fit, traveling, and spending time with her husband and two young kids. She is currently without any pets as she lost her very special rescue pup and two kitties over the past few years. She hopes to bring more pets into their family in the near future!
