Dr. Delaney Maddix

A proud Hoosier and Midwest native, Dr. Maddix was raised in the Indianapolis area. She comes from a large, blended family of one brother and five step-siblings. Dr. Maddix credits her dynamic upbringing for fostering her adaptability, resilience, and compassion—qualities that are reflected in the strong interpersonal skills she brings to her patients, clients, and colleagues every day.
From an early age, she naturally gravitated toward animals and found deep fulfillment in caring for others. Her passion for animals, combined with a vested interest in medicine, ultimately led her to pursue veterinary medicine. Dr. Maddix earned her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Murray State University in 2020 and went on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024. Along the way, she gained diverse clinical experience working in multiple practices across the United States, further strengthening her clinical confidence and broadening her perspective as a veterinarian.
Professionally, Dr. Maddix is passionate about continually expanding her medical knowledge and refining her clinical skills, with special interests in dentistry and cardiology. She believes strongly that great veterinary care is rooted in education and partnership, and she values creating lasting relationships with both pets and their people—helping owners feel informed, empowered, and supported in every stage of their pet’s care. She also hopes to pursue additional education in medical Spanish to better serve and connect with a diverse client base.
Dr. Maddix was drawn to Muirfield Animal Hospital by its location, but it was the culture and her connection with Dr. Leas and the team that confirmed she had found the right fit. She is excited to continue building meaningful relationships with patients and their families, while developing as a clinician.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Maddix enjoys an active lifestyle and can often be found running, attending spin classes, bouldering, hiking, or planning her next lake or beach getaway. She also enjoys brunch dates, winery visits, and spending time with friends and family. As a devoted sports fan, she cheers on Indiana University, Ohio State, the Cardinals, and the Indianapolis Colts.
At the center of her world is Willett, her one-year-old Standard Bernedoodle and self-appointed household entertainer. Life with Willett is never boring, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She is also excitedly counting down to her wedding in April 2027 with her fiancé, Mitch.
Fun fact: Dr. Maddix was born without her upper second incisors
